Faux Silk 85gsm

High quality cost effective alternative to natural silk.

Our faux silk is a lightweight 100% polyester fabric manufactured to an exceptionally high standard. Similar to natural silk, it has a wide range of uses including clothing, scarves, lining and quilting.

The faux silk has a silky-smooth shine on the print face and matte finish on the back. It has a flowing drape giving it a luxurious look and feel.

The base colour is optic white and colour reproduction is incredibly strong. It is printed using dye sublimation which offers excellent wash fastness making it suitable for items that will be washed regularly.

Please note that prints are likely to be off grain.

Care
Wash on a delicate machine cycle at 40 °C / 105F. Do not tumble dry. Iron on a low heat not using steam, ironing print side down for best results. Do not iron on top of other polyester fabrics, as the print may transfer. Do not bleach. Do not dry clean. Line dry. Care Instructions

Backdrops

The main requirements when making backdrops from our fabric are related to fire safety.

The following are relevant standards for fire safety for backdrops:

The exact requirements depend on the end use and where the product is going to be used.

There are few specific requirements for consumer use, however, if the product will end up in a public place, generally the requirements are stricter.

You must make sure your fabric of choice meets the necessary fire safety requirements.

Note that construction of the final piece can change the fire safety characteristics, including the choice of thread, accessories, lining, etc.

If your intend to retail your products, it is highly recommended to get the final products tested for fire safety before marketing them for sale.

Garments

You must make sure you construct your garments safely, but otherwise, the only strict requirements are about labelling, which only apply if you're looking to market your creations for sale.
