Many of our fabrics have been independently certified for a range of properties and uses.


OEKO-TEX 100 Certified

Fabrics that are OEKO-TEX 100 certified have been independently tested to ensure they do not contain over 300 harmful substances. The certification covers every stage of production up until the point it reaches our factory.

OEKO-TEX Eco Passport Certified Ink

All our fabrics are printed using OEKO-TEX Eco Passport certified ink. This means they have been independently checked to ensure they do not contain chemicals that are harmful to human health.

GOTS Certified Fabric

GOTS ECOCERT Certified Ink

Fabrics marked ECOCERT GOTS have been printed using ECOCERT GOTS certified inks. This means they have been independently checked to ensure they have been made in an environmentally and socially responsible way.

EN71-3 Certified

EN71-3 certified indicates that a representative sample has been independently tested to ensure it met the requirements of EN71-3. The representative sample tested featured a print that utilises all inks that we use on that particular fabric.

EN71-3 is part of the CE directive that ensures toys sold in the EU meet a minimum safety standard. Part 3 relates to the migration of harmful elements.


Fire Retardant

Fabrics that are fire retardant have been independently tested to ensure they meet the requirements of a specific standard.

Please note our fire-retardant information is for guidance only. It is your responsibility to ensure the fire-retardant rating of a fabric is appropriate for the end use. If you are unsure, please contact our team who will be able to advise further, or recommend an independent fire safety expert.

Standard Description
BS5815-3 British flame-retardant standard for counterpanes and continental quilt secondary covers in the public sector. Fabrics that are BS5815-3 certified are suitable for these applications in commercial and public sector environments.
BS5852 Crib 5 British flame-retardant standard for contract upholstery. Fabrics that are certified BS5852 Crib 5 are suitable for upholstery in environments such as hotels, pubs and restaurants.
BS5867-2 Type A, B & C British flame-retardant standard for curtain and drapery fabric. The type refers to the level of fire resistance and suitability for use in certain environments:
- Type A for low risk environments such as offices
- Type B for high risk environments such as hotels
- Type C for extremely high-risk environments such as hospitals
BS7175 Source 0 - 7 British flame-retardant standard for bedcovers and pillows. The source refers to the source of ignition used in the test:
- Source 0 is a lit cigarette
- Sources 1 - 3 are flames from a burner or butane flame
- Sources 4 - 7 are from wooden crib
BS7837 British flame-retardant standard for textiles used in the construction of marquees and similar textile structures.
IMO FTP Code 2010 Part 7 IMO (International Maritime Organisation) flame retardant standard for curtains and vertically suspended fabrics. Fabrics that are IMO FTP Code 2010 Part 7 certified are suitable for curtains and vertically suspended fabrics on ships.
IMO FTP Code 2010 Part 8 IMO (International Maritime Organisation) flame retardant standard for upholstery. Fabrics that are IMO FTP Code 2010 Part 8 certified are suitable for upholstery on ships.
NFP92 503-505 M1-4 French flame-retardant standard for contract drapery. The M rating refers to the level of fire resistance with M1 being the highest and M4 being non flame retardant. Please note, if you require certification for use in the United Kingdom, you may need BS5867-2 certification.

Performance

Representative samples of all our fabrics have been independently tested by a UKAS accredited laboratory to ensure they meet commercial standards for a wide range of uses.

Standard Description
BS EN 71-3:2019 Chemical Migration of Toxic Elements:
A test to ensure the fabric does not contain excessive levels of harmful chemicals that would prevent it from being used in CE marked products for children. The test is graded as a pass or fail.
BS EN 105 X12 Dry and Wet Fastness to Rubbing:
A test to determine the resistance of the print to rubbing off and staining other textiles. The test is graded using the Greyscale for Staining where a test score of 5 is excellent and 1 is poor.
BS EN 12945-2 Pilling Resistance:
A test to determine the resistance of the fabric to piling. The test is graded visually at set intervals where a test score of 5 is excellent and 1 is poor.
Martindale A test that simulates wear of a fabric to determine its durability. The test is graded as using a score with determines its suitability for levels of use.
